    • Malabsorption syndrome
    • Insulinoma (an insulin-producing tumor )
    • Addison disease (adrenocortical insufficiency)
    • Hypopituitarism (underactivity of the pituitary gland )
    • Hypothyroidism (underactivity of the thyroid gland )

Since the dose of glucose is taken by mouth, the test is sometimes called an oral glucose tolerance test.
